Zero Transport is an expedited trucking company that hired me to drive in a team on a box truck nationwide. The owner is named Korey Walper, who is also a dispatcher for Tri-state. They put me through 3 days of orientation in Millbury, Ohio (near Toledo), and put me up at the Budget Inn in Perrysburg. During orientation, I discovered that they don't pay for the first 100 miles of deadhead (in other words, the first 100 miles you drive to pick up a load, you don't make a dime). After 100 miles, they pay 5 cents per mile. They pay their drivers 20 cents per loaded mile.

I also found out during orientation that they deduct $25 per week for "escrow" to cover any damages to the truck you might cause. I was in orientation from 7:30 AM until 5 PM from Monday 7-13-15 until Wednesday 7-15-15. We were out in the middle of a cornfield in the middle of nowhere with no transportation, and they couldn't even serve us lunch or drinks. After orientation, I was told that if I quit in the first year, I would be responsible for paying them back for the cost of orientation and the hotel, which I never agreed on. That's like inviting your employee over for dinner, then after the meal, telling them that you'll deduct the cost of the meal from their pay. That's just dirty.

So, I drove for Zero Transport for 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, I was dropped off at home for my hometime on 8-01-15. We received 1 day at home for every week on the road.= 3 days hometime. Then I find out that my co-driver has decided to retire, and they're going to give that truck to another team. Sheri, who really runs things, tells me that she's going to put me on another truck as soon as he is done with his hometime. A few days later, I call for an update and she tells me that he went back on the road without me, and she needs to find me something else. She tells me to check with the Tri-state recruiters to see if they could put me in somewhere temporarily, and I did so.

They had nothing. A week later, she tells me to have patience, and she will find me something. At this point, she stopped answering or returning my calls. I called and left messages for days, and sent texts. So, finally, I called Tri-state and spoke with the owner, Korey. He tells me that he's "just a dispatcher", and doesn't know what's going on. I tell him it would be nice if Sheri would return my calls, and let me know what's going on. The next day (on 8-14-15), now 2 weeks after I was dropped at home, I receive a text from Sheri telling me that she's terminating me because she has nowhere to put me.

Then she tells me that she's keeping my escrow because I was there for less than a year! WOAH! Wait just a minute. I did not quit. I caused no damage to the truck. I did everything that they asked me to. I even sat at home like an idiot for 2 weeks waiting for them to place me somewhere else after they told me to be patient. While I could have been seeking employment elsewhere. And, now they're going to take my money, too?

I've come to the conclusion that this company is nothing but a scam. They're a small time petty little 2 bit trucking company that doesn't have a clue how to treat their drivers. They use and abuse them, then keep their money, throw them away and ignore them when they're done with them. DO NOT WORK FOR THESE PEOPLE! There are plenty of other better trucking companies out there! These people are nothing but a bad joke.

Zero Transport strictly goes by their handbook which every new recruit signs and agrees to. There obviously was a good reason why this person was let go. He either could not handle driving a manual transmission and that was the only truck available for a co driver since the driver he started with would not drive with him. Zero Transport treats people with the respect they deserve. If you are willing to listen and learn if you are not doing something correctly, and you treat office staff and dispatch with respect without demanding things your way, they will bend over backwards to make sure you are happy. I think this guy must think he knows everything but is not open for suggestions to improve. No, Zero Transport will not tolerate this type of behavior and I have never known anyone in this company to lie. They are actually straight forward. It looks like this guy likes to bash every Company he has worked for. Look him up. Check out his Panther bashing too

If he didn't quit, or didn't cause damage, that escrow is his money. They let him go because of themselves, not him. He's right, Zero is wrong and a big fat ZERO.

In our employee handbook that EVERYONE signs in orientation it states very CLEARLY that if you quit, cause damage, remove equipment from the truck, or are TERMINATED before 90 days employment you will lose your escrow. From what I've been told is maybe he wasn't paying too much attention in orientation since he found it so boring. Zero is very upfront with everything they do and what is expected of their drivers. If respect is given, respect is returned like no other company I've ever worked for and I've been at this for more than a year or two, more like 25 ;)
I've also seen the OP's other company bashing that would make me think it's not the companies that are the problem.

I think you're being disingenuous about who you are. That's #1. The second thing is if he was let go because they didn't have work, that's on them, not him. This was a scumbag move by what seems to be a scumbag company.

He was not let go due not having work, just so you know. He always leaves out the parts about how rude, disrespectful and vulgar he was to dispatch, his co-driver and the office staff PRIOR to his being let go. I'm who I say I am, just a Zero Transport driver, my avatar is the truck we just came out of, we're in a 96" bunk truck now. I just don't like seeing good companies bashed by folks not telling the whole story. Seems to be a pretty common theme in this industry.

I'm not mad and I am the recruiter for Zero Transport! People need to stop believing every person who bashes on a company. Robert would have still been with us if he had more experience, was teachable, not rude and disrespectful and could drive a manual transmission. This thing about not getting his escrow back is hogwash! He got his escrow back. We do not take people's money. We go by our handbook and Robert signed it. He was angry because he got charged back the money we paid to bring him on. WE are the ones who are out hundreds of dollars! We gave him cash advances when he demanded them and we put him through orientation, hotel and physical. We took a loss. Sorry but if people can't come to work for a good company and treat their co driver, office staff and dispatch with respect, then they will be let go. Simple as that. By the way, I am not a liar. Slowpoke44magnum is one of our great teams who run for us and we value their great work ethic and they along with the rest of our drivers who value their job, get treated great! Yes, we care about our drivers on condition. Hard work and respect will get you far!!

SlowPoke44magnum and TB John Thank this.

First off tri state is probably the best company ive worked for. Second shelly was the best dispatcher ive ever had. Third zero transport rips you off they were always changimg my pay per mile they never reimbursed me for scale tickets and they never reimbursed me for the def i had to buy because they didnt have enough money on there fuel card. So needless to say i left them there truck. But like i said if you have your own truck i highly recommend tri state as a company
