Replaced starter, prior anytime the truck is cold it won’t start but once truck is warm it’ll start right up! So got starter replaced! Put brand new one in and didn’t crank at all, put old one in with new little relay that’s mounted on the gear reduction starter and started up fine but still only when it’s warm!! If it’s cold it’s very hard to start!

I read elsewhere that this yellow bypass helps the issue. Every time with the interrupt starter relay. We push it in. It clicks right away with key power or no key power!! So thinking that’s the issue?

I would check the batteries, make sure they are all good.
We bought a new Cat,D4 dozer. It had a 60 Amp fuse.If you had to jump start the dozer it would usaully blow the fuse, too much amps in the circuit.
It's to protect the computer like the start interrupt thing does.If you can bypass it ,it would probably work but you take a chance of cooking something.
I would check the batteries and connections, make sure they're all good and voltage is correct.

We had an old freightliner that did that also, cold no start ,warm -start right up.
Found one of the battery cables was broken on top of the batteries so guessing it was only using 1 battery to start.
If I have a truck getting hard to start I take a 9/16 wrench and loosen the battery terminals ,move the cables a little and re tighten. They normally start easier with good connections on the battery.

    Perchie15 Thanks this.

Yeah I was thinking that I did check all connections by hand to see if it changed anything I tightened them all! When the operator starts it in morning it can keep clicking the solenoid then suddenly fire right up but a bit hard to almost like doesn’t want to!! BUT when we installed a brand new starter it didn’t even budge the solenoid. Never made a crank or tik.

I'm sure your new starter wasn't wired correctly. Or could have been a bad starter. Have it bench tested

Checked the batteries load tested them all after his job! And they were all good but probably better to test them when it’s been sitting in the cold I think huh!

Check voltage drop at the starter.

    Mag switch on firewall?

You took the mag switch off the new starter and put it on the old starter and it started?

    What are you working on?
