To change the gasket on this power steering pump do I need to drain all of the fluid?

Watched a video on YouTube of a guy with a freightliner that changed his without draining anything but it's an entirely different setup than mine...

It's not leaking terribly but, enough to concern me.

If you can slide the pump back enough to replace the gasket without removing any lines I see no reason for draining the reservoir. May have to unbolt the reservoir if you need more slack in the hoses, can just zip tie or bungee cord the reservoir so it doesn't tip over or hang off the hoses.

Good time to change the fluid and filter. We always just drain it when doing the new gasket.

Might be possible, but faster to just disconnect completely.

The pump has to slide back about 1 1/2" or so for the drive to clear. As long as you have enough slack in the lines it is possible.

    cke Thanks this.

Not related to the original question, but saw it's about X15 and it reminded of someone telling me he paid over $10k for a turbo (part itself ) and injectors are $2k a piece. Is that true??
