Is it faster than via Charleston if heavy? (with 53' reefer) Any current construction issues that might make it not worthwhile? (worse then the little bit of construction on I-64/I-79?)
I don't recall ever running through there but need to run near Pittsburgh, PA to Columbus, GA tomorrow. Google and Garmin say it's preferred but wanted a 3rd opinion

Passing through Summervile (strictly enforced 50 mph) is a drag, but going across the highest bridge in the US and admiring the view makes up for it.
KANSAS TRANSIT, poppapump1332 and STexan Thank this. -
Doesn't look like too bad of a road according to my map.
-
US 19 isn t a bad road. Its all 4 lane. You will have a good 4 or 5 mile hill to pull not long after you leave I 79. Also you will have a few more good hills to pull right before Beckley.Just watch your speed on US 19. WV DOT loves that road.

Yep, Hwy 19 is the way I’d go too
-
Its a good road. Nice view over the gorge.
poppapump1332 Thanks this. -
Make sure it's not a jump day (or whatever it's called) at the New River Bridge.Traffic gets stopped for that.Otherwise, good running.
-
I just passed through there, nothing special, few lights here and there, but 65mph otherwise.
On October 21st bridge will be closed for trafficOLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
Good road for trucks have done it many times. Not much of anything if you need to stop for fuel or rest so keep that in mind.

There are 2-3 truck stops between Sutton and Beckley on US19 all on the Northbound side and all with plenty of parking....19 is a good road All divided 4 lane, Ill be running it tomorrow. 2 pulls/hills coming southbound.
