The title says it all... I'm wondering if a written warning is worse than an actual citation or not. I've been told that it is because a citation can be fought whereas a warning cannot, and therefore affects your CSA score as well as your carriers.
Written warning worse than an actual citation?

Yep, sad to say but true, there are people working to get it changed but for now that's how it is.

I say myth. I have had 3 warnings when I worked for my previous company in Texas. Every state trooper that issued says it's never reported to the state or any agency. EVERY trooper who issued a warning says it goes nowhere. Its simply a warning.
Additionally, NO warning has ever shown up on my DAC, CSA or DL..... never.... period.
The reason it cant be fought is because there is nothing to fight. It doesn't exist in any state or jurisdiction records or data base. Its simply a piece of paper.
Until someone can show me a warning from the state of Texas, on a DAC, CSA or DL record I wont believe its anything but a piece of paper. Again, its never been on any of my records of any sort.
Additionally, again, I have gotten three (3) warnings from TX state troopers over my years out here. None never mentioned about any previous warnings. They always say I have a clean record so they just issue me a warning.... end of story. -
It would appear on your psp, not your DL or dac. And not all troopers no whats going on with csa.

Depends on if the warning is done on an inspection form and sent in as such.
CaptainDaveG, KMac and flood Thank this. -
While it recently changed the department I work for required every traffic stop have a paper trail. So even warnings had to be in writing.
The departments copy are stored in the dispatch office till the end of the year. Then they are placed into long term storage until it reaches the limit on the retention schedule. It is then shredded.
The plate number of the trailer we are stopping and location are entered into our local CAD ( computer aided dispatch system) for the traffic stop. Our warnings stay in the department and do not show up on any computer outside of the department
The only time in house it would show up again is if the same trailer was pulled over again in our city.
If we run your drivers license that is logged on the state system.
So our warnings stay in house.
As a side note traffic stops decreased with the extra paperwork so we are back to giving verbal warnings. I usually give verbal warnings to CDL holders.
I work for a city department that has nothing to do with DOT inspections etc. So it may be different than a commercial inspection officer.scottied67, Ryan423 and 25(2)+2 Thank this. -
I've gotten a verbal - no paper placed in my hand. I don't expect to ever hear about it again. But the question leaned toward a written reprimand sans any type of fine or pending court date. -
If the warning is NOT on a dot inspection form then it never shows up anywhere. If it's ON a inspection then you get the points on your psp
Bean Jr., dunchues, MrEd and 1 other person Thank this. -
The problem is 99% of the time you get a written warning it is during a dot inspection so it ends up on your record with no way to challenge it.
