I have a 1997 Peterbilt 379, while pulling the Steering Wheel today, I cut the Horn Wire that that runs down the steering shaft. It's cut even with the top of the shaft, so I can't splice onto the wire. I can't find where the wire exits the shaft and I found a small plate held in place by 2 screws on the side of the shaft with a wire on the outside and a contact on the inside, so I can only assume that the wire must be connected to the shaft on the inside. Any idea how to change this wire?

Got the same problem on a Freightliner century year 2005. Trying to figure it out how and were these wires get in to the shaft. So I can replace them and feed it back into the shaft but spended over two hours and can’t find it. Let me know if you ever solved this and how pleasetrulytex Thanks this. -
That truck burned to the ground in 2013. Luckily the Auminum Hood was up, so it didn't get burned and I was able salvage it, LOL. That truck was my baby! Maybe one day I will get another one. Good Luck though, I never did figure it out.

I figured it out the small plate held in place by two screws on the side of the shaft with wire on the outside and contact inside is the hot wire and it makes contact with the shaft it self so I just cut it and connected straight to it. And it works. Took me few hours to play with it though.

Hardworker, did you replace the wires going thru the steering shaft?
