Well folks, winter will be here soon. What do you carry for an emergency food stash?

I throw a box of MRE's in the truck with bottled water. You can order MRE's packaged for civilians now. The military contractors are making them. They even include the heater bags too :)

Tuna, crackers, peanut butter, honey, almonds, trail mix, water, and maybe some soup or tomato juice. Pretty plain stash right there.

Definitely water, peanut butter, Tuna, saltine crackers, soup, a little canned fruit.Granola or breakfast bars of some sort are great in a tight situation as well. A can or 2 of Sterno Fuel, a pan and a cooking stand to heat up the soup or whatever you have. Beanie Weenies are also great for stashing back for tough times.......I even eat them on normal days.Smoked Oyters are another easy thing to if you like that sort of thing. They go great with the saltine crackers and a dash of Tobasco.Someone else mentioned oatmeal, this is another good one and it goes along with the Sterno Cans and pot to cook in as well. There are all kinds of foods like this that are easy to stash and have long shelf life and are easy to prepare. Always carry a gallon or 2 of water. I used to make sure that i left the house with at least 2 jugs of water no matter what the weather.

I've got a refrigerator and microwave in the truck, so I'm usually stocked with soups, water, pop and pretty much anything that can be heated in a micro that doesn't require refrigeration.

winter is best time for stocking up on food if you eat out of your truck---put your stuff in the jockey box as well as fridge--stays nice and cold--if not frozen--never thought as it was emergency food--kinda always just called it dinner and snacks

I normally only run out for 5 days at a time but always keep at least 2 weeks emergency food for 2 people in the truck.
Water, Soups, Rice, Beef Stew, Oatmeal, Nuts, Dried Fruit, Pasta, Tuna, Chef Boyardee Canned Food.
I have a fridge n microwave & more than once have shared a meal with a fellow stranded driver who was not prepared..

Of course bowls, forks, spoons, plates all disposiable.
Also throw in extra blankets, warm clothes, just in case....

Lack of preparedness can get you killed for sure.

I usually double the amount of water I carry from 2 to 3 gallons up to five (I drink a lot of water now that I'm trying to lose weight....again....). Lots of PB&J and multi-grain bread. Usually carry some dry cereals to munch on, along with the aforementioned saltines.

Once winter is on the doorstep I also usually stock a small cooler with canned fruits, veggies and other non-perishables.

    Like Pop-Tarts.
