I have been experimenting with this Walmart jacket the last month. Using a t-shirt and sweatshirt beneath it I have kept warm in sub zero temps, with and without the sunshine.

I’ve bought their stuff from the local Farm & Home store. They’re still around.

I recommended then in a prior post. My new job issued us Berne jackets. They are similar to Carhart but with a different non-wooly lining. Sturdy and heavy. Highly recommend Berne.

You can find some pretty durable clothing in surplus stores, plus those lightweight liners for field pants & field jackets, those things will keep ya heller warm if ya wear 'em under other clothes. A winter watch cap (or knit beanie cap) helps retain heat, as body heat radiates from your dome. Nice lined work gloves come in handy, and of course some sturdy footgear. It never ceased to amaze me, seeing drivers step out of their trucks in tennis shoes or whatever during a full-on blizzard... good sturdy work boots are more suitable for trucking, as you never know when you might need 'em in an emergency. IMHO, one can judge the professionalism of a truck driver by the kind of footgear he or she wears... slaps or flip-flops ain't gonna cut it once you've been dragged into a wreck. Just my $.02 here, FWIW...
