I'm a southern Ohio hillbilly redneck. I use winches. And pronounced the same as wenches.

Well I suppose stowing your "Cargo" in a wench could be considered a form of load securement...

I would be afraid to stick my winch bar in some of them wenches to tighten up, even if they do need it.

My wife calls a stream of water a 'crick'.
I call it a 'creek', as it should be.
