GI Joe's Radio Electronics is selling Wilson 2000 Trucker antennas with shaft lengths that are not even shown on the Wilson website.
They offer the Wilson 2000 Trucker with the 5" and 10" shafts that are on the Wilson website and that I see all over the web and at truck stops, etc.
But they also say that you can get the antenna with 18", 22" and 36" shafts, options that I've not seen mentioned anywhere else.

Has anyone else ever heard of the Wilson 2000 Trucker antennas having these longer shaft lengths? I've sent them a message using their contact form on their website but can't seem to get a response. Maybe that in and of itself tells me that I shouldn't do business with them, huh?
In my message to them I just asked if these shaft lengths were in fact available and if so, were they Wilson OEM shafts. In other words, I don't want some kludge made up by them and thus it not be a genuine Wilson product.
I'm thinking of getting either the 22" or 36" shaft length as I've read that it's best to have the coil as high up in the air as possible, that is true correct? The 36" would put the coil above the top of my cab since my mounting location is on the mirror bracket on my Kenworth T660.

Yes, you want the coil up in the air, but not past the midpoint of the antenna.
Given that the SW-2000 (with 18" mast) was designed for your truck, I'd go with that. The Gryphon Thanks this. -
the 36" is a wilson product, I had one on my pick up truck to get the coil above the cab of the truck and had it for quite some time...then I put it on my pete and hit a branch with it at 65mph...all I have left is the shaft...
With a t600 i would personally go with the long 36" shaft, it has a shorter whip to accommodate the length of the shaft, its also a thicker whip, it seems to be sturdier than the shorter wilson 2k's...The Gryphon Thanks this. -
your antenna efficiency will be much greater with the load higher in the air.

yeah. the longer bases were made for the KW trucks where the antenna mount is really low on the mirror.

I was about to order the 36" shaft model from GI Joe's.
When I noticed they were going to charge me $18 for shipping I started doing some checking and read some very disturbing stuff about them.
So, needless to say, I'm not ordering from them.
However, I can't find that antenna with a 36" shaft anywhere else.
So, now I'm looking to purchase the antenna and then the 36" shaft as an "antenna part" somewhere. -
I have one laying around, if i find it ill mail it to you.

its showing a little more than 11 bucks to ship to 38828
try Ebay? 33 bucks is half the cost of an new antenna. -
If you find one, please PM me your Paypal account or mailing address and how much you want me to send you and I'll send you a payment.
Thanks so much.
