well i've been driving for 8 yrs tractor trailer with no accidents, just this stupid incident in my personal car. I really don't think it should matter.
Will having a car accident affect my record?

Get an abstract of your drivers license. If you were not cited it should not be listed. If you were cited, you need to inform a current or any future employers. Not citation, no need to inform them. It's just an issue between you and your insurance company.

MM83, because we're assuming that even though you weren't cited for a traffic violation, that you are still listed 'at fault'.
I had a 5mph rear-end collision (no joke) in near stand-still traffic. It was never put on my MVR (my insurance paid the $1300 or so for the plastic bumper that was cracked on their car). Just never saw the brake lights come on as we were inching along up a slight grade that looks right into the sun in the morning on the way to work.
Never cited for it, but was listed 'at fault' on the report. I brought a copy of the report with me when I signed on with my original carrier. -

Until you know for sure if it's on or off your MVR do NOT lie on an application. That "falsifying an application" hit on your Dac/HireRight will hurt you worse than a little accident. Find the copy of the report or go to the station and get a copy and keep it and send it in with an application and a short description of what happened. It's then up to mostly your prospective new employers insurance company to decide if they can hire you.
Some advice. NEVER allow your wife to move or "clean up" official papers pertaining to anything driving related you just set down! make a folder in your home filing cabinet to put such papers but as soon as possible make a copy of it and also scan a copy into your computer.
As to missing a truck, car or animnal. NEVER damage your vehicle (car or truck) without taking a piece of whoever put you in the wall or ditch with you! Just a small piece of paint can be your proof that it was NOT your fault! I will never allow anyone to run me off the road in a truck without taking them or parts of them with me.
As in your case a sideswipe would have been the thing to do! Just think of the repairs they would have fixed (new car!) AND the money that they would have paid for hiring a moron to drive for them! Yes I would have taken the idiot as far up the court system as I could even to the point of him never driving a truck again because if it's true then he does NOT need to be endangering anyone again from lack of intelligence! -
I found the report. It says "Law enforcement (optional) short form"
Then it lists my name, license info, car info, insurance company, location, time, date.
No other information is on the report, doesn't say a #### thing about what happened.
edit: can't believe d@mn is censored on this website -
But when you're in a car, you're smaller than a flatbed tractor trailer, you're doing 60+ mph, it isn't worth the risk of getting killed just to try and leave a dent in the back of their vehicle. My little chevy cobalt would fold up like tin foil vs. an 80,000 lb rig. I guess in the very fraction of a second I had to react, I decided taking a gamble and swerving at highway speeds to try and avoid it, would net a better chance at survival than slamming into the back of a stopped truck. Was it the best decision? I think so. I don't think I'm skilled enough to get close enough to a stationary vehicle to only put a streak of paint down the side of his truck, not at that speed, not given the lack of warning I had to react.
You can say many things about what you'd want to do in an emergency situation, but when the moment arises, it's really hard to follow through, especially when you're panicked.Drewski Thanks this. -

Take a look at this video:

The rig was already in the grass. I'll bet that if the SUV had missed the tandems and kept going, the trucker would have been hung out to dry.
