I have been using PrePass for a couple of years now and love it, I have yet to find a problem with it.I see fancy trucks blow by me and 10 miles latter they are waiting in line at the weight station then 5 miles latter they blow by me again then the next weight station I go by them waiting in line again.I wonder if I'm missing something here, why would you not have a prepass?
Why no PrePass

Maybe some don't want the electronic record of them being there. Or if your safety record isn't so good you'll get all red lights anyway. Maybe some don't see the value in the $25/mo prepass charge and rather use the time and the little extra fuel. Maybe some don't see enough open scales per month to justify it. Maybe show truck driver doesn't want a transponder on the windshield.
Myriad of reasons. -
Maybe no reimbursement from company
mhyn and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Because they turn it off and they don't give you a credit on your bill that you payNavigatorWife and KB3MMX Thank this.

I say no to prepass.
Single truck owner, I see no advantage to the prepass.
I read in this forum how some states turn it off and you need to go in anyway.
When I haul OD I have to go in anyway.
I usually get inspected level 3 once a month and level 1 each quarter.
What is the cost per month and extra for each electronic pass?
Why spend the money. I see no advantage.6wheeler Thanks this. -
Flat rate $24.95 or something per month.
I use it and like it. It does save a lot of time not having to go through the scale. It is rare it's turned off, I would estimate 5% of the time it's off or they're giving everyone the red light. I get the green pretty much every time except when I am very close to gross weight and it directs me in for weighing. Lots of states I go through still don't have the weigh in motion in the interstate yet, so it just checks the safety score and decides green/red based on that. Mine is prepass+ so it does the tolls also. Way easier for paperwork and that gives the toll discount and is another time saver. -

PrePass is such a scam.... Just shows you that DOT is more about the money than actual Safety.
No trucks should get preference because they pay a monthly subscription. SMH.Czar_Zero, Badmon, just_sayin and 4 others Thank this. -
I pay $15.00 a month with the OOIDA discount.I asked the Missouri DOT at the scale house what determines if I get a green light to pass? and they said they have no control over prepass. I have a scale house in every direction from my home within about 5 miles because I live near the entry of three states.
Cybercat, BUMBACLADWAR and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
I run very few tolls, last year 10 times. 4 east coast bridges, 5 oklahoma and 1 kansas. Make that 11, 1 time around Denver. It did same me time in rush hour(s). That's a terribly congested city.
Green light to bypass lane same as you most times.
That slow approach to weigh station doesn't cost me $25.00+ a month in fuel.
Unless you have a prepass from Maryland, Maryland doesn't give a discount to out of state accounts.
Unless you pre-buy with a commercial account. Still too much hassle for me to get a couple dollar discount.
1 less account for me to keep track.NavigatorWife Thanks this.
