Navistar just announced that they're going to use the DEF engines now also. So, I guess all new trucks will be using it.
I think the point I was trying to make when I started this post is, With every truck stop putting the hoses on the drivers side, and with 99% of the trucks being made with the tank on the drivers side, Why would anybody put it on the passenger side? it seems like a no brainer to put it on the drivers side. That's as bad as having your truck delivered with the steering controls on the other side. Who would want one, and why bother making it that way to begin with? Don't they want to sell trucks? It should be put on the right side only as a special order. I know the driver I know with the 379 never asked for it that way, and I have to believe my other friends boss didn't either. He has a fleet of almost 20 Petes, and none of the others are that way.
Why is Peterbilt backwards?

Ours are mostly filled at the yard by the shop guys, only a few who team put on enough miles to get low on the road.
I would be able to run probably 2 weeks most of the time with this Cascadia. International is going to use something starting soon for the Class 8 trucks, but I don't know that it will be DEF, the company claims it won't be, but every other engine make currently installed in a new since 2011 Class 8 other than a glider is supposed to be using DEF. -

389 headlights are ugly as sin but bright as hell, our petes that rrquire def have tanks on the passenger. Side.

I may be mistaken but I believe most of the manufactures, Freightliner, Volvo, Navistar, Mack, are putting ALL of there DEF tanks on the drivers side. I know I spec'ed a Prostar not long ago and they where pretty tough on getting anything moved.
I think that on Pete, KW and Western Star, you CAN spec either side AND location/size. I do agree that 99% of the trucks out there are better off with it on the drivers side, BUT I'm sure there are some locations, like maybe a small company that has it's own fueling setup that would require it on the other side.
Hell, I've got a RIGHT HAND pull on the 5th wheel on one of my trucks and for the life of me can't figure out why you would want it on that side, maybe it was made in Australia, lol.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.
