I seriously don't get it. There is a highway with 2 lanes where right lane is reserved for slower traffic and left lane is for fast traffic. Then you see a truck on the left lane trying to pass another truck. The speed limit is 75 mph, the truck on the right lane goes at 58 and the truck on the left lane goes at 60 and the whole passing "ritual" takes about 5-10 minutes while several cars line up behind these trucks, cursing and yelling, hoping that the torture will end. This happens to me everyday. What in the world are you guys thinking when you are invading both lanes of the road and keeping people from getting wherever they are supposed to go? I'm not a trucker or anything, I opened this account just to ask this question, that's all.

it's called impatience. the guy in the 60 mph truck is concerned about being late to the destination. so they will pass the slower one. plus 94% of all semis are governed at a certain speed. it to keep the driver out of trouble. so it is normal for 2 trucks to run close to the same speed with out being able to speed up on flat ground.

and to give you a good idea about semis. heavy trucks have been drive by wire for close to 30 years. the truck is set at a certian speed through the engines computer. and watched closely by the main ternial of the trucking company. in 1995. cars and light trucks started becoming drive by wire. fewer moving parts. and less holes in the fire wall of the vehicles. after 2002. 85% of cars are drive by wire. after 2006 100% of all cars new manufactured vehicles are drive by wire. now the gas pedal is controled by the engines computer. so pretty much all cars built after 2006 can be taken to the dealer and be programed to run a certian speed. and even though the engines computer can be replaced to go as fast as the driver wants. the replacement computer for 95% of all engines. must be programed by the dealer. trucking companies have the software to program to trucks computer. so it is the owner of the trucking company that decides how fast the trucks can run. drivers hate it. and some do pay hackers to turn the truck up. when the trucking company finds out. they route the driver in to one of the terminals and turn the truck back down. and fire the driver based on the data the computer provides. the engines computer stores ever time the computer is changed. so every trucking company sets there trucks to the speed they want it to run. with fuel between $3.809 to as much as $4.409 a gallon. none of them are running there trucks any faster then 70 mpg. it's just too much money in fuel. other smaller companies that don't govern their trucks. charge back the extra fuel used for going fast to the driver.

I know what you mean. I usually drive 60 mph most of the time unless the speed limit is 55 mph on the FWY and if some one try to pass and takes longer than needed time to pass me I slow down to let them pass and stop the madness.Unfortunately what happens now a day is as soon as a truck turns his left turn signal the car/truck a mile behind will do 120 mph trying to pass because they don't want to end up stuck behind that truck that is trying to pass the vehicle in front of him. Some people keep their mind on what they are doing"Driving" and some drive with head up their crack totally clueless of their surroundings much like Animals. They need help or a wake up call or may be an insult or two.But when it comes to solving this problem the careless will not stop until the law gets involved.pretty soon we are going to need a cop to tell us to flush the freekin toilets because of those schmucks that look human but they act more like inbred's. and if you are wondering what they might look like here is a Peek

Don't you just love the op's name. It's called share the road or give the government more of your tax money so they can put up more lanes. Slow down enjoy the scenery. You will get to where you are going slowly but surely.

"Invading"? Since your question itself contains such an underlying premise, I'll assume it's rhetorical, and you're not really asking a question at all, but making an indictment.

So I'll explain it to you. See, those truckers have CB radios, and they randomly pick a car (like you) to mess with, then conspire on the CB to use both lanes for as long as they can. After a few minutes of laughing at you on the CB together, they get bored and let you by. Quite simple, really.

    the op is correct anyway
    no matter what the name
I don't try and pass unless I can get by quickly
in the ole' days the guy getting passed would let off and let the ignorant just go on
    now they are all ignorant
    except me of course

I always let off when I was in a slower truck. Now I usually ride the hammer lane all the time.

Sent from somewhere out on the road.
