If I recall, Walmart was very tough to get hired on needing many years of experience and at least a million miles. Now all they ask for is 3 years experience.

    What happened?

like any other company, they only want seat meat.

i never applied for wally's world, the requirements were BS in my mind, and at the time, there weren't any DC centers up here in New England.

i just do not recall a million miles experience however was needed.

personally, i see that coming to an end, walmart drivers that is, and the company going full on contracting, much like amazon.

so don't even bother with them.

I actually think their intentions are the exact opposite. That’s why the private fleet has doubled in size the last 5-10 years. Not to mention all the DC’s that were all contractors before and now they’re all private fleet. The elimination of contractors seems to be the long term goal.

then why the seat meant mentality compared to the higher echelon requirements of years ago?

    why the slip seating..??

at one time, walmart driver were treated like gold, like free coffee, bagels, muffins, and other assorted goodies in the breakroom...they still do that..????

it's costly to run a private fleet, and then the never ending lawsuits, or should i say nuclear verdicts of recent.

walmart will soon be rid of that private fleet to distance themselves from the lawsuits, costs of operations like payroll, benefits, truck leasing, maintenance, etc.

"one check a month" to a contracting company, pretty guarantee's walmart's future to stay afloat.

They won’t go the contractor model. They’ve already said they want to be able to move 100% of their own loads to the stores. They’ve already been involved in lawsuits that they shouldn’t have simply because another company was pulling their trailer. And that wouldn’t stop if they went to the contractor model. If someone smashes into your car would you go after Billy Bob’s Truckin or would you notice that they happened to be pulling a WM trailer?
