It was always comical getting calls to work on their trucks. Last one i remember had burnt up wheel bearings on a trailer.
I told him most likely (judging from pics he sent me), it would need axle surgeon, bearings, and hub. Think the quote was around $2300.
He said he could get it done in Chicago for 500$. I told him he best drag it back home.Last edited: May 17, 2023

I've worked with one, and in my experience, it really wasn't that bad. I'm guessing your speaking of the 1099 companies in Chicago. I can admit that they play by their own rules, and they can be shady. The guy I ran for was both of those things at times, but he took good care of me while I was there. My checks were never short, and he paid me for every single thing that I did. It solved some financial problems very quickly. Plus, my attitude towards that situation is helped by the fact that I knew what I was getting into, and it wasn't intended to be a retirement spot.

Told my dispatcher to try and run me coast-to-cost because, at that time, I had a wife and 4 children. He took care of me and I showed my appreciation by not sweating the small stuff and just doing my job to the best of my ability.Siinman, TheLoadOut, Flat Earth Trucker and 4 others Thank this. -
Very money driven and ruthless (business wise) culture in Eastern Europe and Russia. A few of them manage to use this to grow the company as a whole, which can mean good paychecks and treatment for the driver. Some of them use the ruthless tactic against their drivers and exploitation and neglect happens. There are some good Eastern European outfits around, but there’s enough bad that it’s just the golden rule to avoid them. One thing some of them are good for is allowing second chance drivers to keep earning a decent paycheck. It can backfire though if the driver doesn’t have a backbone and starts cheating logs and receiving violations for trash equipment, but it’s not always the case.

Not that they are bad but perception western media has given them and the lack of wisdom.
see in the east we look at american media and all we see is alphabet bs and how men are stupid, yet fail to realize that the US built an empire as well as being a technological giant that is unmatched to this day.
Easter Europeans respect old school mentality, and use people to make money. Something the west has done for years prior to this bs we see today. So when they now do it, it’s frowned upon, yet megas do it everyday but in a more sophisticated way. They have yet to refine their ways.
Basically prison rules with them. They make that determination when they hire you. -
