true it is rated like any steer tire to be safe by transportation standards at any postion. thats becasue a steer tire is the safest tire design has the highest safety rating there for can go anywhere. however its not designed for spread axles the only spread axle tread from michilen is the xzesa recap it has xze tread pattern lower tread depth and rolled edges instead of the xze steer( all postion) squared edge. so again the issue with xze on trailers is it is a very sticky compound tire that bit hard in turns, causing tire cupping high stress levels on the axles and suspion parts. the xt 1 tire is designed for trailers but still is not designed for spread axles but works well. again the ONLY spread axle designed tire by michilen is the recap tire with xzesa tread

I run 20 of them on my 5 axle flatbed,,,it's a "teeter totter" style,,,front and rear lifts set at 109" spreads,,,and a center tridem which has a 50" spread between each!!!
I haul heavy,,,generally in the 135000 to 138000 range,,,,doing local runs which are generally all within a 50 mile range,,,do a lot of starts/stops and a lot of twisting/turning!!!
In my opinion,,,I can't afford to run a lesser tire than the xze2,,,have absolutely no complaints what so ever about them!!!
They wear like steel and wear even!!
And no,,,I don't have shares in michelin,,,but I do share the same physic with the michelin man!!!! -
My fontaine 48' w/10' spread had xze on it when it was new. I doubled my mileage when I went to the Continental HSR.
