Who is the top ten carriers to avoid as a driver

Happened a couple years ago on US 19 in Inglis, FL... school bus was letting kids off when this idiot came along at 72 in a 65 and swerved at the last moment to plow into the rear of the bus in a glancing blow, sending 5 kids and the bus driver to the hospital.

The other major problem with events like this....is (what I call) the "ripple effect"....it somehow makes the rest of us drivers look BAD....whether we really deserve it....or not.

No one died in that wreck,thank goodness.
Western Express had a driver that killed someone at their headquarters,left the body in the boneyard and the driver went and picked up a load (he was arrested in New York and extradited to Tennessee to face murder charges).

Top 10 is hard. My friend worked with Pride transport and rising sun that were awful.
Rising sun he saved a load as he had to avoid their route they want you to take and got in trouble.
Pride he mentioned were disrespectful at a high level with dispatchers did what they want and you were always wrong.

Mostly as a driver you have to do your review on a company and just don't jump in. Trucker forum is a great site

Low hourly rate, no overtime until after 55, old crappy terminals, crappy trucks, crappy trailers, ,crappy pallet jacks ,cheap customers, bad dock workers that destroy everything, you're expected to deliver 2000 lb home depot tile pallets to residential areas with a manual pallet jack . I have worked at Arizona , Kansas and SoCal terminals ; it's all the same garbage

Positives ; Home daily , company doesn't bother drivers

Worst companies? Any company whose owners and office staff barely speak and understand English. Also, if the majority of their drivers are of the same ethnic group as the owners you might get to learn about exclusivity games.

 

I worked at Central Transport in the late 80's, when they were still Teamster, and basically automotive freight. The qualities you listed were exactly the same in 1987.....
