I'm looking at buying a 2008 Peterbilt with a Webasto Blue Cool APU on it. I'd like to hear from anyone who might have experience with this unit.

Is it a problem or not? Does it work well or? How long does it cool the truck for before it runs outta cool? I've always wondered about this type of APU technology but have no experience at all with it. I have a used TriPac on the shop floor ready to install on whatever I buy if there's nothing there.

    Thanks!

    SHC Thanks this.

Parked at night, smaller sleeper, or lighter colored truck(make mine white) and it will probably work enough to be worthwhile. Parked during the day with a large, dark colored truck, not so much.

Transport America is buying a bunch of new trucks equipped with electric APUs and they are white Cascadia condos, they were in the process of taking delivery of a few hundred this summer, and they used to buy dark blue trucks.

We never had them, and the only information I get is secondhand. My friend drives a truck with a battery electric APU and they won't bother fixing it to work, but his is a large, dark colored truck, not even a condo.

I asked someone I know about the Nite system and they declined comment, and this was in a white mid roof and it was team driven.

They are designed to cycle around 10 hour and less breaks.

The truck is a white 387. I'm thinking that an extra inch or so of insulation will be a big plus.

There was a man from europe posting in another forum about a system he uses, and said that is is available here in USA also, I will see if I can find that website and post it here.

This is the website, they are made to fit the window up in the top of the cab, or you can make your own mount. The man from Europe spoke highly about them. I will see if I can find some of his posts.

Thanks for the 411. Read that thread. Don't understand what they are talking about when they talk about using gas? Guess I'll post there and ask!

He was talking about adding freon to the system, "topping it off".
