white smoke from oil dipstick

    Smoke coming out of the dipstick tube is most likely a plugged vent line, or you have excessive blowby, like compression rings are shot.

    so an update. with a filler cap that didn't seal i lost average 11gal of oil per 30k miles of driving. After I put in a new oil filler cap that seals, I am losing only 4.5gal of oil per 30k miles.

    maybe my dipstick is worn out too and a new dipstick would reduce the oil loss and the smoking (if the smoking is actually something like moisture).

    i take it back. still high oil loss:( not sure if oil loss varies with outside temperature or amount of idling or what...

    Have you by chance done any oil analysis?

    yeah. done a few oil tests. Seems ok.

    Same thing happened to my ISX.
    I fixed the bad cooler and the white smoke magically went away.
