Not a mechanic, But checlk your coolant level, sounds like you have a coolant leak? I'm not sure maybe some will be along in a minute to help you!

like luvtotruck said... start with checking the coolant

white smoke is usually the sign of coolant entering the combustion chamber. which is usually a head gasket.

Engine may no longer be in as perfect condition as previously thought.

My brother just went through a couple of visits to mechanics over this very issue, and it turned out to be a cracked head gasket. New HG and not only did the smoke clear up but he gained mpg from having better compression and a much quieter and balanced engine. -
As stated by others it could be a coolant leak, however I have had white smoke before and it turned out to be water in the fuel. Before you go to the expense of a head gasket job. What color is the liquid? If its yellowish its coolant if its a clear slightly oily liquid its from contaminated fuel or condensation. In which case it will burn out but if it effects overall performance you could try an additive, if that doesn't work drain the tank. Remember water is heavier so it will sink to the bottom, so you can drain of the water and reuse the diesel.

mack engines are bad on head gaskets, get some one to pressure ck the coolant system.might be something simple.keep an eye on your coolant level

Pull out the dipstick and look for a white sometimes foamy sludge. Whether a gasket or crack in the head or block very often antifreeze finds it's way into the crankcase as well as the combustion chamber. Bear in mind if the oil looks good it does not prove you don't have the problem. Depends upon what the crack in metal or blow through in the gasket intersects.
