I'm not talking about the usual suspects: montreal, ottawa, vancouver, toronto. Or like my first otr company: a trailer yard located a half kilometer on the other side of the border. I have it on my bucket list to take otr loads up to deadmonton, the yukon, AK border etc. I wouldn't want it to be a regular thing in winter though.

I talked to a guy that did that for awhile.
He mentioned something about some kind of flies or bugs a certain time of year.
    Be prepared to get bit.

Not sure how far north they go. I used to see them around Calgary and Edmonton all the time.

With my old boss we’d get up to Slave Lake every now and again to the Tolko mill. The guys who didn’t want to go up there in the winter didn’t get to go up there in the summer. Summertime was absolutely miserable. When I stopped anywhere up there to let my dog out I would put on a hooded sweatshirt with the hood over my head and long pants no matter the outside temp. The mosquitos were unbearable.

How does this company work? I've been on their website and it looks like they only have local jobs mostly in the Pacific Northwest, Houston area, and Alaska. I didn't see any mention of otr. What's the connection between whatever they're doing in Houston and whatever they're doing in Alaska?

I just went on there and found these two positions that would go up into CA and all the way to AK.:

    Line-Haul Drivers
    • Home every week
    • Typically five days out, two days home
    • The lifeblood of Lynden
    • Moving Service Center to Service Center
    Driving Teams
    • Typically home every week
    • A great opportunity for new drivers
    • Couples are welcome
    • Ten hours on, 10-hours off schedule
