I checked a Pilot and a Loves last week and they only sold 3 and 4 foot antennas?

    Really?? When did that start?

I was in a hurry at the time. Did I miss something?

I don't frequent truck stops much, but I can't remember seeing anything longer than the Francis 5x5 in a long time......Ever go through W. Memphis? The CB shop across from the McDonalds there in the Truck Stop zoo has them. (Ray's CB Shop.)

Are those Firesticks any stiffer than the SkipShooter? My SkipShooter flopped all over the place, thus the support I rigged up for it.....no complaints now though!

I don't know how yours flopped around. Mine flexes a bit more than I'd like, but it's not terrible, not even as bad as a 5.5 Francis. I'm still going to rig up a support though. Out of an old plastic mudflap, LOL.

I think I mentioned it before, but since extending the antenna 3" with extra SS studs/nuts, I have 1.0-1.1 SWR across the band.

I'm wanting to say this may be the best antenna I've ever used, period. I like it even more than I did my 102 on the car.

OP... as for Peelot, TA, etc. not selling real antennas anymore... I suspect that started in the mid-2000s when CB use really dropped off. When I'd go on roadtrips in the early 2000s there was still a lot of chatter most of the time, except on Sundays.

I ran a 5ft SkipShooter before this 7ft. It flopped around a lot too. I think the blank needs to be made of stiffer stuff. I figure they will eventually fail at the base the way they flop around unless supported.
