I just graduated from Western Pacific Truck School at their Stockton campus.

I seriously looked at Western in Sacramento, but after a tour of their facilities and speaking with their extremely smarmy admissions dude and crappy facilities, opted instead for Western Pacific.

And I gotta hand it to Western Pacific; they did everything that they said that they would do. I got my CDL on my first pass and have all of my endorsements.

These truck schools are not Harvard, so it is astounding that their tightly-choreographed set of lessons/teachers/scheduling/equipment ever actually came together, but it did.

Keep in mind that anyone who responds to this question may have, at best, attended one school. They cannot really say for sure what the others were like (other than a second-hand review from a buddy)

Do I have complaints about WPTS in Stockton? Yes, most certainly yes (like others report, there are equipment issues at most schools, and ours had (repeat: had) more than our fair share. Plus, one of the teachers is an incompetent boob. (Most are very, very good) The school Director runs a tight ship; he corrected things when I #####ed and, all in all, the school came through for me.

I got my CDL and immediately got a job.

Their job placement is top-notch, by the way. They won't let you stay unemployed. Really! They work with you during school and then, after graduation, call you up to make certain that you're working!

    Roughly $4500.

You can find schools for a lot less. I know: it's a lot of money.
Price is not the only factor; I am sure you know that. It's a big worry, though. It sure was for me.

I was going with Western Pacific but, they could get the VRAP thing straight. Went over to Western Truck School, did all the paperwork, got everything done and approved through the VA. Then Western truck school in Turlock lost all of my paperwork and told me they don't have enough students to start a class next week, May 6, as planned. So I went to Truck Nation, not a real high speed operation, but, for the price, I'll get what I need. I already have my pre-hire letter with Watkins & Shepard.
