Will need to buy a pump to unload chemical tanker. Parts rep has been trying to sell me on a Quincy piston pump. I will be hauling caustic soda.

what pumps do you guys run/ recommend?

U sure you even need one? Caustic is heavy and rolls in a small trailer. Many I know use tractor air or plant air to off load.

You keep your gear on at all times and that shield down when close to any connection. Get you a bottle of boric acid too for neutralization. Find and test the shower at every location BEFORE you hook up. Look at every gasket every time, change as needed.

The solution is dilution, water is your friend........

Unfortunately I will need one. Some of the locations i will be delivering to remote tanks. The stuff is quite heavy, almost 13lb/gall.

if you don't mind, see if you can find the model # on that pump.

    thanks for the help guys.

Quincey is a old established manufacturer of air compressors w/ a good reputation in the chemical industry. Girard Equipment used to sell a little vee unit , manufacturer was 'Emglo' they worked well but quincey's often got moved to the next truck!

Biggest thing is to have the correct ratio PTO which is different than one for a liquid pump like a Roper, Viking or Blackmere.

I had an old Quincy that was rebuilt by a friend of mine when I bought it. I hauled Phosphoric acid and used it 2-3 times a week for four years. It finally started pumping a little oil so I looked about having it rebuilt and it turned out that it was so old some of the parts were high for it. I would estimate that old thing ran roughly ten years on one rebuild. They are indestructible as long as you change the oil in them. A new one probably costs about $600. Will unload caustic forever with no problems. But you are right you will need it when there is no plant air unless you have a big compressor on your truck.

Gardner Denver makes a small one for tankers. It is a rotary set up.. Go to their web site, and they will show you the bigger ones for dry bulk .. But the have one small one. Bulk equipment handles them .

GD made a good bulk blower. the early ones were real loud but they re-did them, lighter, less noisy & powerful. Never saw one for liquid.
