I’m looking to start a slip seat operation with my business partner here in the DFW. We’re looking to stay local/regional. Our plans are to finance our truck and be independent.
    1) what freight lanes pay the most
2)) is it better to get a dedicated run or get business off load boards
    3) how much should we expect to gross if we run slip seat Mon-Fri
Any comments suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Your screwed already asking those three questioned. Go work for someone first and learn the business then make a decision.

What knowledge led you to the desire to purchase a truck through financing it and then operating it ?

No, I’m not an o/o so I probably shouldn’t be here. However, these questions are basic and get asked so often the replies are memorable. Here we go.

    1) No one is going to tell you that, most likely. A lot of these drivers learned that themselves and aren’t privy to opening doors for competition. Just how it is. It’s like having an award winning recipe and giving away your secret sauce.

    2) Looking around myself on load boards inside of Texas, there seems to be some decent paying things moving around if you look hard enough. Although, I would assume having a dedicated customer base offering a good rate consistently would be much better.

    3) No one can answer that. Why? Because no one knows your business model, what you’re hauling, how often, what the rate on it is. Just too many variables that could potentially affect that number.

If I’m wrong, any of you vets, feel free to correct me.
