    Hi all,

I have been transporting cars never done freight. I have a top of the line PJ 40' flatbed gooseneck trailer sitting around I want to put into use. I'm in Houston which is the capital for oil & gas hotshot runs, I know there are lots of hotshot work to be done here but where to get the loads? Is there a load board for hotshot loads like Central Dispatch for cars? What load board or broker would you recommend?

I did hotshot for a little bit before I got a semi with flatbed. In Texas I think you'll be fine but we are from Iowa and struggled on getting loads back.

As far a loads go. Maybe a specialty broker that deals with hotshots. Otherwise I started using Internet Truck Stop on a few hot shot loads before we sold the truck and got a few good ones. Maybe Direct Customers. There is a insulation place in Gainesville, TX (probably too far from you) and I've seen many 1 tons there. On the other hand- insulation isn't the most fun thing to haul. Looks easy but it's delicate.

I'm an OOIDA member and use their load board (DAT) I really enjoy it and get most of my loads from their. And have a few customers.

As far as oil field stuff- I have no idea. Hope someone can help you out further on that.

Thanks for your reply, I guess not many want to share their watering hole ;-) If you are struggling to get back loads look into vehicles, there is always cars to move around. Centraldispatch .com is where the cars are at, for your flatbed setup you can look for inop vehicles from Copart or IAAI auctions they load the vehicles by forklift and if the delivery location does not have a forklift to unload or a dock to drive off you can always hire a flatbed tow truck to unload (figuring in the cost of course).

    FishFanatic27 Thanks this.

I think we did a few loads like that when he had the truck. They weren't bad. Now we have a 53 flatbed and can handle 48k so rarely have problems getting a load.
