Why not go directly to the Deka battery manufacturing facility in Kutztown Pennsylvania and buy some Factory seconds AGM batts.
    Ww Engine & Supply Inc
    142 Waterworks Road
    Somerset, PA 15501-1051
That place had a really good special on AGM truck batteries at $85 a piece and they were brand new with a warranty.
I don't remember the manufacturer but AGMs are much better than acid filled batteries

    Starboyjim and blairandgretchen Thank this.

I had DEKA batteries when I first got the truck,.. they didnt last past the 2 yr date mark. I replaced them with Interstate batteries and I am roughly at the 2.5 yr mark with them and they have held up well. I have a large inverter in the truck that I use when not running the generator,.. so they see some abuse besides just starting a big CAT motor.

Hurst I used to put deka batteries in the boats back in the day because we had a dealer close.
I thought I had a charging problem or draining issue for the longest time because of those batteries continuously going bad.

Switched batteries manufacture and never had a problem. Junk batteries

Every truck should have one of these in the toolbox, handy and cheap to buy these days.

I guess you never know, but DEKA batteries solved my problems in a great way. Plus no more corrosion from the Fleetpride product, a constant headache. Of course, the DEKA batteries are AGM, so maybe that's a part of the corrosion story. I had the exact reverse, crappy Interstate, great DEKA. So it goes.

Maybe it's like truck manufacturers - no one gets 100% success, so it's a crapshoot, and a warranty requirement.

Maybe Deka cleaned up their act. It was years ago

I don't know, Tommy, but I do some work there in Kutztown, pickup and delivery, and it's a good looking operation.

But you know, I was thinking about this because of the people who've had issues with DEKA. And I wonder, Hilliard, what's your goal in shopping cheap batteries? Considering how important batteries are to your livelihood, how important they are to the functioning of everything electrical in your Freightliner, why shop cheap? Wouldn't it make sense to go for quality and dependability? The difference in dollars isn't that much.
