Well as the photos show. The outside and inside tread depth is deeper than the middle. Yes these tires are inflated properly and routinely rotated. Where will dot measure these tires? Should these be replaced?
Where does DOT measure tires when inspecting them?

Guarantee they are not measuring in the deepest part. Those tire are shot. There are TWI “TREAD WEAR INDICATORS”. At 2/32” that tire is a out of service waiting to happen.
Wasted Thyme, Flat Earth Trucker, feldsforever and 1 other person Thank this. -

Fully aware of tire wear bars. Current tires don't have them.
feldsforever Thanks this. -
Looks like 9-10/32nds. Still Legal. They’re going to try to measure the thinnest tread. Also looking for two agendant treads worn completely flat. (flat spot). Might be a 2x2” or 4x4” rule. @ZVar could clarify better than myself.

The measurment can be taken at the thinest wear point on the tire in any major tread groove. Technically 2/32" is still legal on trailer and drives but anything measuring less is OS. 4/32 on steers.
Rideandrepair and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
At that tread yes i would plan on replacing them, time to shop is not on the side of the road or when its down to exposed wires
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Here is the wording...
"(c) Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this section, tires shall have a tread groove pattern depth of at least 2⁄32 of an inch when measured in a major tread groove. The measurement shall not be made where tie bars, humps or fillets are located."
Basically an inspector can measure 100 different spots on the tire, and if any are less they can write it up.Rideandrepair and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
They measure from where they can write a ticket/
Speed_Drums, JerzyG, lester and 8 others Thank this. -
Those tires are shot, no matter how you measure them. They will get you pulled around for a inspection.
