I work for a hazmat company that frequently has extra time before loading, leaving me to find something to do with my time from Saturday to Monday. We’re currently working in Pittsburgh and I’d like to catch a Pirates game and check out Pittsburgh but the closest Pilot is 25 miles away- way too far for Uber. The casino in Pittsburgh doesn’t have any truck parking either removing that option.
Where do you guys park when you want to be near Pittsburgh?

Good luck, Pittsburgh sucks

Pittsburgh is not much for sitting a semi.
If you are eyeballing the Pilot towards I-80 already, just eat the few extra miles there is a TA Barkeyville on 80 to east of there.
30 miles and change aint nothing compared to a potential problem with the railroad.
My little spot in Pittsburgh had to do with Whorleys exclusively for seafood. And there on that street is just enough for one truck to wait while one of the docks clear enough to get backed in and it's not a good area. Although the business itself has been fantastic.
So go burn some fuel to 80, come back into Pittsburgh when everything is ready for you to go get. -
I used to regularly deliver to Giant Eagle in Crafton and they have plenty of street parking. That’s about 6 miles from downtown.
Only problem would be you’d have no restroom access and you’re about a mile from restaurants and other businesses that would. But if you’re hell-bent on exploring the city that might be your safest bet. Just park as far from the guard shack as possible, I’d recommend taking the left near the guard shack and parking on that street anyway. It’s much quieter and out of their view and has a cul-de-sac to turn around. 750 Beechnut Drive is the address...Deadwood Thanks this. -
There is NO legal parking inside Pittsburgh city limits for long term truck sitting. City is too old and narrow. You MIGHT find a hole to hide in, but be wary.
Best options are Smithton, PA (Flying J, come early as it fills up QUICK and a Citgo, better chance of parking) or that measly Pilot towards Washington, PA. Or run up to US 422 and grab a spot at that Pilot (again, come early) or hit the TA in Barkeyville. Or ride all the way to Hubbard, OH.
Unless your company has a yard in Pitt (or, again, you can find a hole to hide in) forget parking in Pitt.
As for "catching a game", find a friend with a car and interest. But be warned, 'Burgh people consider anything over ten miles driving to be an incredible inconvenience to be avoided at all costs.Deadwood Thanks this. -

I had a pickup at the Pittsburgh Opera House once and we left 3 trucks curbside north of the Strip for a 10 hour break. We didn't get ticketed but that's no guarantee you won't. (We checked that there were no "do not park" or meters or "(x) hour parking"
Now, you might also want to try to call the Duqonesse (sp?) Inclined railroad and ask if you can PAY to stay in their lot for a game. (This being a negotiation, anything other than "no" is negotiable.) I rented an RV and they let me stay there for a few hours. So you might be able to get an 8/2 split out of it.Deadwood Thanks this. -
