This may be a sidebar to the 4.11.2009 posting…We are a small family-owned company with four (4) mint condition food grade tankers that are not in use. They look pretty sitting in our open lot, but pretty doesn’t pay the bills. We are Florida-based but can travel the lower 48 states. We have found loads here and there but nothing consistent and when we do find something the backhaul is an issue. None of the brokers we contacted have experience with tankers and frankly we would like to deal with direct shippers when possible. Internet searchs haven’t turned up much so I was delighted when I saw this forum. Any suggestions on shippers in need of tanker loads. Each truck stays out a minimum of 3 weeks before home time. We also have slurry tankers, and separate power units but that’s a separate challenge in itself.

Foodliner, autuim transport, and caldonia carriers are all based in the upper mid west. Might be worth calling them up, hope this can help.

I haul food grade dry tank out of many places in the upper midwest. from my understanding the trucking companys make a deal with the mills for a year for certain loads (i.e. Con Agra to Bimbo) for the year and the company is responsible to get the loads there, usually multiple times a week (the trips are billed round trip). But from time to time these companies run short of drivers and need to call others to cover their loads. your best bet is to call them and say you have trucks available and you would like to nab some of their loads if they have the need.

these are the companies I know of
    w.w. & sons
    Wayne transport
    foodliner
    Bulkmatic
    Buesings
    cliff wiesman

    hope that helps
