Dumps don't use a lot of brokering. Mostly they tend to rely on direct contact with the companies hiring and doing construction jobs to find work.
If you are thinking of long haul dump work, as opposed to local work in construction, then it's brokered the same as any other freight is. -
i dont know about alabama...but in montana the dump broker is you taking a box of donuts into the local quarry offices asking for work until well after you have gotten the work.....and always be early ( on time is late in that section), maintian good apperiance of truck and self.....and for heavens sake try not to curse
MassHole Thanks this. -
I believe we have brokers here in central AR, but I've always driven directly for the company that owned the truck anyway, so I don't know much about working with 'em.
We're moving to Bama in a month or so, and I'd also like to see what's available in the way of local owner-operator action. Heck, I'd be willing to get my own authority too. -
call some companies. many drivers I know that own their own rigs contact companies and are contracted to them. just do your homework, just like any other operation you have to have the work there or you wont have the drivers, keep them moving and keep them happy.
