First of all, thanks for the advice. Been lurking for 10 years. My company was bought out and new company got rid of drivers. Looking for new job, how do I make the most money possible? I don’t have much time left. I have X endorsement. I’m young, in my 30s, no wife, no kids. What city do I need to move to, to make the most money possible? Thank you so much, god bless.

You’re 30 years old And, “don’t got much time left“ are you terminally ill or something? I’m not trying to be a smart ###, I’m just going by what you posted. 30 years old, you have your whole life ahead of you unless you’re sick? Which I wouldn’t advise spending the short amount of time you have left in that scenario driving a truck.

Right now the biggest game in town is probably driving for Walmart if you like to be micromanaged and wear a uniform. You can make about 120 a year.

    same question ,
    “Not much time left “?

if you’re the average male , you got about 45 years left .

or is it not much time left at your current employer before they go out of business .
If they got bought out by a equity fund or hedge fund , they WILL go out of business . They got bought for the quick cash and selling off of the assets, since they likely paid a lot lot less for the company than the trucks trailers and terminals were worth, it will get cut up and sold . kind of like an auto salvage yard , the individual parts are worth a lot lot more than the whole car .

Post up your experience , driving record , how many accidents and tickets on your state issued MVR ?
What’s your roadside inspection history look like ?

    and endorsements,
    Doubles ?
    Triples ?
    Hazmat ?
    Twic ?

    after you post that ,
@Chinatown should be able to make some good recommendations

Wal mart and gasoline tanker is the top paying jobs right now .

Move to a state with no state income taxes.
Walmart was mentioned and that's top paying outfit right now.
Can make more pulling cryogenic tankers and need tanker/hazmat endorsements. Texas & Nevada have those jobs and both are "No state income tax" states.
    `
Line haul companies pay well and usually easy drop & hook work. Many of those drivers are $100G or more.
    Estes Express
    Old Dominion Freight Line
    are a couple of those.
Walmart is "driver no touch" freight. Drop & hook.

Good states with "no state income tax" are:
    South Dakota
    Nevada
    Texas
    Florida

Saw this Walmart ad yesterday. Hiring drivers in Mesquite, Nevada which is 77 miles Northeast of Las Vegas.
Can get a one-bedroom apartment for $850 a month which also has swimming pool.
    Entertainment in Mesquite also: MesquiteGaming.com

No state income taxes and no food taxes at the grocery store.

    @peters_belt --

Note that to drive for Walmart--you'll need AT LEAST 30 months driving experience, and a clean driving record.

Also, for the first several years there--you will very likely be required to slip seat.:(

That's partly why......instead of driving for Walmart......I'm hauling fuel (hazmat tanker).

Most money is probably log hauling. I'm making $550-600 a day during summer and $750-900 a day during winter as an average, a few days past winter I broke $1000 a day. Home daily and 3 months off in the spring. Also a nice stress free job, little traffic to deal with, simpler log books, no scales to worry about.
