Greetings,
I have been away from trucking since 2010 and have a nice collection of logbooks collecting dust. I do not intend to get back into the industry and simply need to know what I can do with them. I tried calling my old carrier and since I am not employed with them, they will not advise me of anything.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
When/How can I dispose of my old log books?

Unless it has changed 6 months on log books. Recycle them or trash them.
skibum_63 Thanks this. -
Well, as far as the FMCSA is concerned, you could have gotten rid of them a long time ago... you only need the previous seven days.

You do not need to keep them after 7 days except for the proof on the income tax return for per diem you have claimed.
Since your last time was 2010, I would suggest keeping them till 2014. -

Ok, thanks for the replies. I think I'm gonna go ahead and dispose of them then. Thanks!

Hell, if the DOT had their way, they'd make us keep all of the logs in the truck until it pushes the steer axle weight to over 12,000. Gotta bring in that citation revenue to keep the agency funded, you know -
Well, I emailed Federal DOT directly, I should hear back in a few days. Thanks again.
