yeh, you pull up to a shipper and you see the docks and say to your self, how Im I going to back in there? I mean some of these places are insane. Especially when its dark, been raining, and the glare of the lights, and you gotta maybe blind side into it. Totally sucks!

Yeah, I worry more about getting it out of that tight spot than getting it in....sorta like, I got it in there, now how do I get it out without rubbing on something. I had a power pole on my blind side at a butter plant in St. Louis that had a flat spot in it from the trucks nicking it and tearing off some of the wood...I didn't need any kindle wood so I left it all on the pole!!!:biggrin_2559:

Then there are no lines at most of those old docks.
So the first guy gets a little crooked, and the rest do as well.
Then you have to back between 2 crooked trucks on docks with doors 9 inches apart.
I am glad I have not seen one of those in a while lol.

I have one in the morning I've never been to and a warning on the qualcom that it's very tight so be careful.
I have all of 6 weeks experience now ( not counting school) so it should be fun.
My backing has improved greatly over the last week or so running around Portland,Seattle and Sacramento.
Glad I didn't get this one my first day lol.

Theres a meat packing plant over near where Im working right now thats just like that. The doors are so close that the truck drivers have to open up their trailer doors before they back in and pull out onto the street to close them. Its a pain to get around the trucks too. The 53'ers will sometimes unhook while theyre being loaded. Other wise the tractor is sticking halfway out into the street. The plant is right on the corner of an intersection and when I come thru there in my 45' flatbed i have to swing out REALLY wide and hope that the 4wheelers are understanding enough to move. Can get a little interesting when Ive got cars coming at me who dont want to give way and cars behind who dont want to wait for me to make my turn.

And then theres our local commercial enforcement officer who doesnt have a bit of symphathy for any of us. :biggrin_25513:

Years ago i did home delivery of new furniture in a conventional and a 53 ft electronics drop trailer.I would go out with about 50 stops on the trailer.
I learned to back really fast.Out of neighborhoods, off of mountains, you name it.
One of the worst was in San Francisco and Lake Tahoe in 6 foot of snow.

The customer would always say there is plenty of room....the school buses have no problem! Idiots!

Backed 7 miles down a mountain in Cali one day with the CHP watching me.
Even had the news chopper above filming it.
    Little one lane road...:biggrin_25523:
