Where can I get some sort of lathe so I can mount a rim on it to polish it?

Check out YouTube, under Wheel Polishing, I'm sure someone's made a homemade wheel stand to polish wheels with.

I would start with a cement mixer to turn the wheel. The older and heavier the better.

Tire and stem, I have mine done when rotating or replacing tires. For what it would cost to buy a lathe rig it then the arm to do the polishing.......

    SAR and Oxbow Thank this.

Just jack the wheel end up that you'll polish and stick er in 3th or so. Or get it up into high range if you're brave. Very important that you DON'T LOCK your power divider or diff locks. Also if you have a jack that bleeds down I highly recommend jack stands.

Leave the wheel mounted and jack up that position then start polishing. The drag from the buffer will turn the wheel. You'll have to use your foot to slow the wheel down occasionally. That's how I do it. Engine off.

SAR, swaan and Oxbow Thank this.
