i have seen it on multiple trucks including several at the milk plants. i love shifting as much as the next gear jammer, but why the extension? is it just an ego thing, like a @#$# extension lol, or does this serve an actual purpose. it seems to me the engineers put the shifter right where it should be.
What's with gear shift extensions?

Yep.
Like those morons in deisel pick up trucks mod'ing them out to be the annoying socks of puss they are. It is about having a large phallic representation while lacking in their own underroosbuddyd157, Snailexpress, Odin's Rabid Dog and 1 other person Thank this. -

you aren't supposed to modify a company truck, because its not mine. i do try to take care of it as if it were mine though.

its so you can watch them shift, because shifting is cool.

I have a short 6 inch extension in mine. It's NOT for looks. Purely for comfort. The factory shifter is just too low for my liking.
We had a fellow that no longer works here that had something crazy like 18 inches added to his. That was all well and good until wiped out the transmission. As I said, he's no longer here...BlueThunderr, Tb0n3 and bzinger Thank this.
