When you find a company you're interested in, what is the best way to get in touch with them? E-mail or a phone call. I usually like calling myself, but it seems much easier to fire off some emails. I only ask because I've sent a few e-mails to recruiters, but haven't heard back. Maybe it just takes a while for them to respond, but I thought I'd see what some of you veterans thought?

I guess standing out front at 2am yelling like a jilted girlfriend would be a bad idea. :biggrin_255:

Call their main terminal and ask to speak with HR... and specify that you want whomever is supervising the recruiters. It is easier to fire off some emails, but a little effort says a lot about you as a potential employee.

Then again... it may bug 'em. You probably won't know until you try.
Otherwise, if you can befriend one of their drivers, they can maybe give you a little better idea of how things work in that department. Beware, however... truckers tend
to be full of crap at times.

It might be they get so many emails they ignore them unless they really think your serious and you call
Or it could be the market sucks right now

Well, the market DOES suck right now. But look at it this way. Say you are a recruiter with five job openings and 135 emails. And ONE phone call. Who ya gonna talk to first?

    Get on the phone.

I have found that the e-mail thing is really lame. I've been e-mailing literally 100's of companies. However, eventually one got through. I've been on two interviews and I go for my road test tomorrow morning.

Looking for a job these days is so different! It's all about the e-mail now. I called a bunch as well, they said to e-mail them my resume.

Not like the old days where you got the paper, circled the ads and went down to the places. Those days are gone.

In my job search, I just kept reminding myself of the Winston Churchill quote "Never, never, never, never give up."

I have two kids, a wife, two car payments, a mortgage and no insurance. I HAVE to get a job. No slacking here, even if it is the holiday season!

I say just do anything and everything you can. If you toss enough poop against the wall, eventually some of it will stick!

Your right, Marshall. Best of luck to you in your interviews. You'll be bringing home the bacon (or at least hauling it) in no time!

Had a great interview with the Route Manager and the Transportation Manager today. All looks good, they couldn't schedule in the road test today. It will be tomorrow, then I meet with the owner of the company.

Everyone there was very impressed with me and my work history etc...it's looking good, no job offer yet, but...good things are in the mix!

The HR lady came out to the lobby to greet me and wished me good luck on the interview and said that all my references check out great and that everyone gave me glowing revues. She also said that I was exactly the "perfect candidate for the position" and that they were really excited and anxious to get me aboard!

That sounds pretty promising to me Marshall. That's a pretty quick turn around. You must have an impressive resume. :yes2557:

Let us know what happens and what company you get hired on with. Take care.
