I currently work for a Canadian based company. I get 90% of the gross revenue. Run whenever and wherever I want to as long as there is a load. Hometime whenever and how ever long I want. I usually run from Michigan to Texas and back every week. If I'm consistent with it and nothing bad happens then I can make 5-7k gross per week. On the lower end of that is the average though. I pay $506.25 for all my overhead weekly expenses, not including my $400 truck payment for a 2012 freightliner.(they only offer 2011-2013 freightliner and volvos) And not including fuel obviously. But the company is poorly managed and poorly run. So many problems here. I want to RIP their face off most days, but the money is good lol
Is there any other companies out there that have comparable pay and freedom but with better trucks? I've looked into Mercer and Landstar and it seems like I would take a huge pay cut going with them. Or should I just suck it up and stay where I am at?
This older truck is killing me on repairs and fuel especially. And they wont help me get into a brand new truck.
What's the best paying OO job?

If you are making that much money why don't you just go buy the truck yourself

Not trying to be funny but if they leasing you the truck why not finish the lease then look to move on. You should also be more specific in your search. What segment of trucking are you in? Are out based in Canada or Michigan?? Freightliners are cheaper than a lot of trucks have you tried doing some repairs yourself? That would save you money. If they let you do as you please how are they annoying you? I would personally just run the loads only talk to the company when you have to
Tombstone69 and SteerTire Thank this. -
Doubt they are making any money and stretched WAY too thin. $500 to $700 a week is peanuts with all the overhead they must have. Might make sense why they are a disaster most days.

That's my other option. After about April or May of 2020 I'll own this truck. So I could wait until then as well. But I would rather not bc I'm leaving money on the table by not having a newer truck. I've done the math and I would save way more money on fuel and repairs than I would lose on a higher truck payment. So again, im just exploring options. The company is based in Canada, with a US division but fully ran by the Canadian side. I live in Michigan and only run in the US. I'm not very mechanically inclined and most of my issues have been electronic so not even truck stops can fix it, it has needed a dealership. So doing repairs myself is very unlikely
Oh and we haul reefer trailers only here. -

But the real question is, is there any other comparable companies out there? Or should I just suck it the F up and stay here and save up for a new truck? Lol

You’re making 5-7k a week doing what is basically a lease?
Get a new truck. You can afford it. Provided the company remains stable.
