I know some regional companies offer a full weekend off, but for jobs that only offer a 34hr reset at home is that all the home time there is?

OTR drivers get at least 1 day off for every week out, but I've never heard of a similar deal for regional jobs.

I run regional for Tyson Foods. Leave the house on Sunday and get home sometime on Friday. Have all day Saturday off. Every now and then I get sent home Thursday afternoon and I still dont come out till Sunday

Yeah private flowers are usually going to get more quality home time than a general freight company.

What Im really asking is should a regional driver get 3 or 4 days off in a row each month if all they get is a 34 at home each week?

Most all of us are off the whole weekend, where I work.

You think OTR drivers get days off? Don't most carriers push for recap hours all the time? I'd hate doing OTR. I'm "regional" and have Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon off. It really depends on what the company does.

When I was OTR I always took 4 days off each month. Usually ran off resets, not recaps

first and foremost, a "truckers weekend", is usually any 2 days off, in a row

so it can be Tuesday/Wednesday, as an example.

when i ran regionally, New England to VA, or KY, i WAS HOME on a friday, and back to work on a sunday night.

but not all trucking jobs that are regional are sats/suns off.......

I run Great Lakes Region at Swift.
It is basically the same as being OTR except that the area I cover is smaller.
I'm still out around 4-5 weeks at a time and take 3 (full) days of home time. That means if I get home any time on Friday I will take Saturday, Sunday and Monday off, and my PTA will be Tuesday at 1000.

And I do not like resets so I manage my hours so I can run recap hours between home times.

With all the drivers out there, and more coming in, I see no reason why we are still stuck at the 34-hour regulation. That's just asking for burnout, and precisely why when I change jobs I always take 2-3 months off.

I get two days off now, usually Saturday and Sunday. I also go by the house during the week.
