I have noticed on my n14 celect that when idleling and under light to hard throttle the restriction guage reads what i belive to be normal half way in the white part of the guage but as soon as you let off to shift or coast or jake brake the neelde flies up into the red than as soon as you give it any sort of fuel it levels out... Is this any indication of anything wrong?
Whats normal fuel restiction sposed to read onthe guage?

What kind of truck? Is this a factory gauge or aftermarket? Any numbers or scale on this gauge? Can you post a picture? Does the engine run ok? Your info is just too vague. Max allowable fuel inlet restriction is usually around 6-8 inches of Hg.

1 PSI = 2 inches of Mercury, so you have about 10 inches of restriction showing on your gauge! I don't have access to Cat, but International and Cummins the highest allowable restriction with a new filter is 8".

The restriction guage rising when you coast or let off the throttle is normal. Nothing wrong. Fuel flow increases when the injectors are off.
Heavyd Thanks this.
