I have very little experience pulling step deck. Haul crude oil for about 6 years. Been over the road since February last year. I pull some heavy haul loads, some flat bed and some step deck for a company I drove for a about six months. Then I jump back to my truck to do power only. So I have an international prostar weighting 19,400 lbs with both tanks full. No gear ( chains, straps, tarps) maybe I will add up 2,500 lbs for the gear. So what would be a good trailer as far as combination or whole aluminium. What trailer will stronger and would take more abuse and hold more weight. I know the aluminium its lighter but don't know how strong it is Vs the combination trailer. What's the weight difference between both types of trailers. How the aluminium will handle the loads like steel coals. I haul my own aluminun crude oil tanker in the West Texas Oilfields and never got any big issues besides brakes, air bags and tires. Just wat to get the right equipment. I notice Brazos combination trailer are cheaper compared to other brands but they only have 1 year on the warranty. I like the Fontaine combination. What are your thoughts. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and experience with a rokie on this new path for me.
What's a good step deck trailer to get.

I have fontaine flat and reitnour step deck . Even though second one have better resale value i would pick fontaine , especially their rub rail design ...i am talking about brand new and aluminum only.
Speed_Drums, Jeff82 and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
The Fontaine combo also has the damage resistant rub rail design. Mine is 3 years old and no problems yet, but I don’t use it every day.
