I have read the 6NZ is the best C15 , what model years did they build them and what would the difference be ? Why are they so much better ? And lastly how can you squeeze the best fuel economy out of them ?
I am shopping for a pre emission truck and found a few with fresh 6NZ engines and a few with fresh series 60 12.7 .
How much more to overhaul the Cat ?
what year C15's are 6NZ

Pretty sure the 6NZ's started in 2001 and went until early 2003. No difference in different years of 6NZ's. Cat could cost up to 25K for a rebuild normally Detroits are up to 15K

what is the difference between 6NZ and non 6NZ , C15's ?

Anyone have an answer ?

On youtube a guy goes by kt3406e. He rebuilds and has some good info about cats. He gets about 30k but goes way above and beyond anyone else i know of .machine work and probably builds better than brand new!
