Today I replaced the power steering filter as it's never been done. Lost a little fluid putting my hand in the reservoir to get the old spin on filter off. Called International to find out what kind of fluid to use. They said it's proprietary to International and I have to buy it from them. I call B.S. Looks like ATF to me. Anyone know what to use in there?
What type of power steering fluid for 2010 International 8600

Any ATF fluid will work. I use 15w40 in both of my Volvo's and never had a problem. Not recommended but oh well.

Looks like ATF is probably ATF Dextron. That is what Ross and TRW recommend. Sheppard uses 15W-40. The names are cast on the housing.
spsauerland Thanks this. -
trying to find out what it is from the factory. Hate to mix it with the wrong stuff and have problems with the seals. Hopefully someone who knows what it is will chime in.

If it's red colored, it's ATF, use Dexron II or III.
If it's motor oil in there, use 15w40 motor oil.
Simple as that, International doesn't use or manufacture some magic un-obtanium oil in their trucks.
