Hello. I have a 08 386 Pete ISX Cummins that I am "fixing" the emissions equipment on, but it also has a bad stock variable turbo. Does anyone know of a replacement turbo that will bolt onto the stock exhaust manifold? Not really looking for more performance mainly reliabilty. And a lesser price than the stocker variable turbo$$$$ would be nice. Thanks.
What turbo to replace isx variable turbo with?

If you go to the regular 18 wheeler forum you will get more responce. Also there are numerous threads with your answer. Mr. Haney is the answer man. Also is a PDI dealer. He can get you straightened out.

If you put in anything else your. Heck emngine light will be On all the time. You sure it's not the turbo actuator switch/sensor?

The sensor is on the drivers side of the engine towArds the back. I know that sounds like it doesn't make sense, but it's there. Cheap and easy to replace!!!

Sorry for the bad typing lol.
I've had this before so I'll save you the head ache that cummins might put you through. There is a signal line from the exhaust manifold that goes around the engine to the drivers side and to the actuator which engages the veins of the turbo.
If the actuator fails the code is the turbo when in reality it's not.MARK AT PIMCO TRANS Thanks this. -
I would just put a stock 99-02 turbo and manifold on it. Then where ever you are hauling if you do have any issues it will not be hard to find replacment parts. Sometimes the down time waiting for replacment aftermarket parts kills guys even if there under warranty.
