They both have pro's and cons.
I have owned both, and if I had to pick one I would take the Volvo. It's simply a more comfortable truck, ride quality is fantastic compared to the Freightliner I had.
Many people have run into trouble with electrical problems with Volvo, I have not (yet). -
What's the engine in these trucks? That's a more imperative question that the badge on the front.

i dont know what engine i am looking for the best opinion so what is the best engine you like so i will look for one..

Your needs are going to be different than others, I need a light tractor because I haul a lot of dry freight outbound and it's heavy. I had a 2007 Columbia with a Detroit. It did not get great fuel mileage. I will be in a new Volvo tomorrow. I speced it to be light and for fuel mileage - it has a Volvo motor. Most guys are going to tell you not to go with a Volvo motor and I'd have been one too BUT it's quite a bit lighter than the Cummins and is "supposed" to deliver better MPG.
If it's your first truck and you check it out good the Freightliner / Detroit combo is a good one in my opinion. -
thanks i think i am going to go with a Volvo for the first one and then i will buy a second one maybe freightliner .. what you guys think..

Well, whatever you do make sure YOU feel good about it and make an informed decision. YOU have to live with it. I also bought an automatic - it's right for me because I have a jacked up knee and in traffic with the clutch it can get very uncomfortable. 9 guys out of 10 on here would tell you NEVER buy an automatic but it's what works for me. Sounds like common sense but buy a truck to make money with and not just look cool. Good luck!

If you want fuel economy the Prostar, due to weight and drag specs, has the most potential with all other things equal. However, since you will spend your life in the truck, pick the one that is a good fit for your comfort needs.

it wont be me i will have drivers in the trucks my skills on in dispatching not driver
