Yeah. I do a night time 10 at the W Memphis J two or three times a year and never had any problems. Just turn off the cb radio.

A driver was recently kidnapped and held at gunpoint for several days, taken to a few atms and had his bank accounts cleaned out at West Memphis... like 99% certain he tried to score drugs or a hooker and that's how he ended up... but either way, I won't even stop there for fuel anymore. Much better places to park... like the ####hole that is North Little Rock.

 

Out here in California... I'd stay at the rest areas along I5. There are even a few quiet ones on 101 in south Monterey county. On I5, stay at rest areas north of LA. Anything north of Bakersfield/Wasco. There are plenty of places to get diesel and some food before you get to a rest area. At that point your in the country. Land of nothing. Get in some reps on the kettle bell and go for a jog and it's just you and the stars with a faint yelp of a coyote in the distance... can't beat it.

Closest flying j in Iowa to the 29 80 split is in des Moines 130 miles east of council bluffs ....however there is the pilot in council bluffs AVOID! And the flying j at Gretna ne AVOID .
