I currently own one flatbed and I have an owner operator that wants to run under my authority, I just don't know how much I should get for letting him lease on to me.

Minimum 15%. The more work you have to do the more you should make. Be ready to terminate the lease if he starts to ding your csa score. You will have to do the billing and ifta.

    Absolutly 0, nothing, nada.

Do you have legal lease agreement documents.
one that has been reviewed and determined to meet legal
    requirements and standards.
One that clearly outlines who is responsible for what.
All the little details of the 5 W's.

If you do not have any form of this covered, then you are asking for long term nasty trouble.

Ooida sent me a legal lease agreement that has everything you guys have mentioned, but this owner operator says he feels 10% because he is paying for base plate , ifta, his own insurance, and he wants to pay me for any xtra tax returns I do, so really the 10% Is broker the load and invoicing. Should I still do 15%?

What about pay? Does he expect a check every week or would he be waiting for checks? You might have to factor all loads now. That's another 3%, leaving you with 7%.
Min 12% and he pays for everything including fines from tickets

Every two weeks, most of the company's we haul for is set up on a 7 day quick pay, and I don't use a factoring company, I do all paperwork pertaining to the business , I just don't think he realizes how much office work there is to do. He thinks it's just me booking loads, so he is not willing to agree for more than 10%, so I will do a 3 month lease and see how that goes for now. Thank everyone for your input, this is a great website to help people like me.

Really, the plate is his responsibility, IFTA too, insurance is his and anything else he expects for free he wants you to deal with it? What tax returns, he is a 1099 contractor nothing more.

I wouldn't even consider it with those demands, it is your butt on the line as much as his, so 20% is reasonable with that crap, 15% if he wasn't a fool.

I had some clown who wanted to run under my authority, I just got the company and he said the old owner said he could so I set him up with a package, contract, driver's application, drug screen paper work and so on, I had in the first sheet a break down of everything I pay for and everything he paid for and he called me up and argued with me about how unfair it is I am charging 16% of the gross when it was agreed to be 5% and I asked him this - who has the authority and who wants to run under it. I said after the long silent pause I have better things to do than to mess with people who don't want to make real money and hung up on him.

A group of people from a former employer started a new company. They do about what your describing. Mostly handeling the logistics end of things. They are very very picky about who runs for them. truck owner pays all costs. They do have a fuel card program.
They get 12 percent off the line rate, all the rest goes to the truck

I think that 10% is fair
