gear oil, like 90 weight in many.
there is a possibility that yes, ATF fluid is used in some
don't you have the owners manual?
or, you could go to the dealership, with the VIN number and go directly to the parts dept and ask them.Dave_in_AZ, TowHaul and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
dealer said 50 weight atf but no one sells that in a quart. Not sure if "manual transmission fluid" is the same or if synthetic atf will work.

ATF stands for automatic transmission fluid. Different from Manual fluid.Something doesn’t sound right. Synthetic is pretty much standard on all manual transmissions. Its sold by quart, gal.,and 5 gal.pails. Its usually usually 50 wt.

yes, i know we are talking 2 different sized animals regarding transmissions, but the possibility exists that his particular transmission DOES take ATF.
to the o/p, if this is what the dealership parts counterman said, then you will just have to suck it up and buy it by the gallon, or whatever amount it comes in for "over the counter" sales.
to the o/p...DO NOT MIX the fluids...shifting will be HAARD, especially in cold weather, and too, the different fluids can screw up the internals...
USE WHAT THEY CALL FOR, or you could toast your transmission, and that'll cost you more MONEY and downtime, then you'd ever care to even think about.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
