reminds me of the story about a driver who wrote on his vehicle condition report, "dead bugs on windshield"
the mechanic signed off on it saying, "live bugs on back order"

stop and spray with windex or any ammonia window cleaner. soak it good.

LET IT SET for a few minutes.

    then run wiper/washers.

I think that's actually a good idea. My truck never sees a blue beacon or truck stop. I pick up a trailer, load it drop it in the yard.... Pickup another load and drop that. Several days a week I take extra loads to the local plant.... 8 miles there 8 miles back. I power wash my truck at the yard and if I detail it further I sometimes Bob tail home. My job is home daily and a day cab. Just saying.... I don't ever see blue beacon or truck stops in my line of work. I drive 100 miles per day roughly with the remaining time spent away from the yard loading milk.

Sometimes I have cleaned my windshield at my farms while loading. The guys in the shop did me the not so nice favor of coating the rubber hood rests with grease. I got it on my cloths and hands one day.... I was not thrilled with them.

5 years ago drivers here were swearing by the use of baby wipes as the best thing. My how times change.

Tho reading the title. I thought you had fond a salvage yard on wheels that dealt only with VW Beetles.

I spend my life running little oil roads and gravel in bug country. Best solution I have found is a little bit of Simple Green in a gallon of water, and a telescoping car/truckwash brush.

A fast scrub from the ground, followed by the windshield washer to get rid of the liquid film of Simple Green and bug guts. It will even get rid of mayfly slime.
